Mt
Garnet is situated approximately 46kms west of Ravenshoe on the
Kennedy Highway which is the main road through to Karumba, with
sealed roads all the way. The population is approximately 600 in
the greater area. Mt Garnet was originally a Tin Mining town and
still has one Tin Smelter still in operation. There is currently
a Zinc Mine and also a Lime Mine operating in the town itself. Most
of the surrounding areas are beef cattle properties. The township
consists of a general store, bakery, post office, service station
and a primary school. |
The Mt Garnet
Hotel is approximately 107 years old and has always been family
owned and operated. We provide accommodation
at affordable prices, catering for workers, travelers and our locals
of Far North Queensland. You will always find a warm and inviting
atmosphere. Your hosts are Marcus and Toni Lake who live onsite
with their 3 children. |

14 pub style rooms including twin double single also a dormitory
which sleeps 5. Two single and 2 double airconditioned rooms also
available, all at budget prices. Breakfast and packed lunches available
for guests on request. |
